Virtual Meeting

Mid-Week Check-In – 03.25.20

Our first virtual meeting via Zoom was a success!  It was so great to see everyone’s faces and hear your voices.  These are challenging times and it is important that we stay connected as much as possible.  Thus we will be having an informal mid-week check-in tomorrow.  Meeting details are below.

If you have any needs or prayer requests please feel free to leave them in the comments or send an e-mail to mercystreetkc (at) gmail.com.  Your information is always kept confidential.

To get started, go to zoom.us and set up a free account.  You can also download the Zoom app to your phone or tablet.  We will have three separate Zoom meetings tonight.  The first is for the large group portion of the meeting and is for everyone.  The other two are separate Zoom meetings for the women’s and men’s sharing time.

IMPORTANT – VIDEOS
We are unable to stream videos during the meeting with high enough quality.  Therefore please watch the following videos before the large group meeting starts at 5:30pm.

Feel What You Feel – featuring Dale Ryan

Does Your Heart Break – Dayspring of Life

As you watch these videos reflect on what you may be grieving right now.  There is a lot of grief in the world other than sickness – cancelled trips, parties, school years, proms, graduations, sporting events, etc.

*Note that these videos are only posted here temporarily.  The links will be removed after the meeting.

So bring your coffee, bring your dinner, wear your sweatpants and join us for the first ever virtual Mercy Street meeting!  See you tonight!

Step 1

10th Anniversary!

Mercy Street is celebrating its 10th anniversary!

Ten years ago in October 2009, the first Mercy Street meeting took place.  For ten years the group has met faithfully every Saturday night.  Lives have been changed!  Here’s to another ten years!

Mercy Street will continue to meet this Saturday, October 5th at 5:30pm at Lakeland Community Church in Lee’s Summit.  Childcare will be provided.  In the month of October we will begin again at Step One.

We admitted we were powerless over our hurts, habits, and hang ups and other people’s choices – that our lives had become unmanageable.

The steps are not something we start and finish but a way of life.  The steps are circular and we flow back and forth to different steps throughout our lives.

Step One Prayer – from NACR

Dear Lord,
I admit that I am powerless over my addiction.
I admit that my life is unmanageable when I try to control it.
Help me this day to understand
The true meaning of powerlessness.
Remove me from all denial of my addiction.
Amen

Contemplative Outreach of Kansas City has several events coming up this month:

Step 12

Death to Shame

“Shame dies when stories are told in safe places.”  – Ann Voskamp

Shame feeds on isolation and darkness.  It hates to be brought into the light.  When you share your story, even a tiny piece of it, a light shines on that shame weight and it starts to lift.

What tiny piece of your story could you share? Who is your safe place?

Mercy Street will meet this Saturday, September 21st at 5:30pm at Lakeland Community Church in Lee’s Summit.  Childcare will be provided.  We will continue our focus on Step 12.

MERCY STREET

Mercy Street will meet this Saturday, September 14th at 5:30pm at Lakeland Community Church in Lee’s Summit.  We meet upstairs in the youth room.  During the month of September we are focusing on Step 12:

Having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to others, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

As always you do not have to be “on” step 12 to attend the meeting.  No matter what step you are on, you may take what you need and leave the rest.  Everyone is welcome.
